Good Medicine
by Cindy ~ May 22nd, 2007. Filed under: Avian, Nature Photography, Spring.I finally finished my radiation treatments yesterday- so since today was the first day in 3 long weeks that we haven’t had to travel to a hospital, we celebrated by visiting a nearby grasslands in hopes of seeing/hearing sedge wrens, bobolinks, meadowlarks and this wonderful bird that nests in the same area each year. I secretly hoped I would get a brief glance, because that’s all I usually get of this species. It was a real treat to my very burned out eyes to see this cooperative individual out in the open, even if it was perched on barbed wire and I’d forgotten my flash. Bird medicine is great medicine :)

I’d hardly recognize a cuckoo if it weren’t buried in foliage - great shot!
Glad you’re done with your treatments and hope you’ll be finding some relief soon.

Hi Cindy:
I am so pleased you are finished with your radiation treatments, and sincerely hope they treat the problem.
What a sight for sore eyes! I have never seen a black-billed; they are so elusive.
Your pal,

Really nice to see you back here! Missed your blog a lot! Best wishes on getting back to normal also. Yes, birds are the best medicine, even if you are not sick physically, but very good mentally!
Beautiful shot by the way, I have never seen one of these.

Barbed wire and all, it is a great shot. Love the turned angle of the bird. Welcome back to a more gentle world and may you have many more successful outings.
