‘The earth smiles in flowers.’
Most, if not all of these beauties are now up, or at least their leaves are popping through the leaf litter- yellow wildfowers are the first to show, then whites. I photographed most of these on our property, or very close to home..our growing season is short but oh so […]

Hey baaaay- bee!

Sunday, April 20th, 2008

Our resident American goldfich males once again look like little bright lemon drops- their songs are a constant each day outside my bedroom widow.. they’re gorgeous in their breeding plumage.

Joining them […]

Despite the cold rain, our FOS warblers arrived today- a beautiful male Black-and White Warbler racing around tree trunkks and a sweet Pine Warbler checked out a suet feeder before continuing his journey. Chances are always good that more have passed through- even with still-bare branches, if we’re not looking in an area, well.. […]

In Search of Spring Peepers

Tuesday, April 8th, 2008

No spring peepers yet- but the light and reflections in this local flooded hardwoods caught my eye on a short excursion yesterday. My hands have missed my cameras :)
And I heard another new sound today from our woods- the drumming of a male Ruffed Grouse. Love is in the air.
